I’m not someone that values appearance in terms of my home or the idea that we need to live in nice neighborhoods to have meaningfull relationships. I’ve lived in 10 different rented spaces during my childhood because of financial struggles from my family’s decisions and I’ve noticed that my happiness didn’t change based on the state of the home we lived in. It changed based on the environment that the family created inside that space. That being said, I do have a few goals for if I get to ever own my own home.
I would love to have a 2-3 bedroom house with 1/4 mile between it and the house on either side of it. I would want to be within 20 minutes to the city center, but with public transit that allows me to go between them without having to drive if needed. I would want a rustic barn-style design of the house that I fall in love with whenever I see them. I would want a high 6 foot+ privacy fence in the backyard that was very large to give a dog plenty of room to run with plenty of agility equipment to work their mind and body. I would want to have parts for above-ground pool to be put out during the summer, but stored away for the colder months. I would want the front yard to have food growing in it instead of a flat lawn.
