Prompt – Who’s the one person from your past you’d like to reconnect with?
When I was about 5 years old, I made my first friend outside of my family. At the time, I was very quiet and reserved and didn’t like to talk to those around me much. He came up to me and invited me to play games with him every day at recess and talked to me when no one else would.
We were best friends from kindergarten until the end of 2nd grade when I had to move to a different school in the district. I missed him a lot for three years during 3rd-5th grade and found him again in the middle school in 6th. He recognized me immediately. It was as if we never disconnected and I was really happy.
Although it was innocent, we “dated” (as much as an 11 and 12 year old can date) for about 1.5-2 years. It was a lot of fun and although we didn’t get along as well for awhile after that, we were still good friends and always get along whenever we talk these days.
Even though I have tried, in my junior and senior years of high school, I couldn’t get in touch him and barely did in my sophomore year. I wish I could talk to him more now, but I’m in college (freshman) now and I don’t know where he’s at in life.
We were best friends for a long time and I hope I can reconnect with that somehow after how long we’ve known each other.
