My biggest role models are a combination between my Aunt and my dad, who happen to be siblings, due to the way that they approach the different aspects of their life.
My dad is who I want to be in terms of how I treat other people and my opinions on how we should view religion, politics, and our general views on life. He has always told me “I don’t care what party you follow in politics, just don’t be an asshole.” I truly attempt to take that to heart because at the end of this, we’re all just people trying to do what we think is best for our specific situation. Most people, I hope, don’t have their opinions out of a complete disregard for other people.
My aunt is who I want to follow up with in terms of her situation with her finances. I want to have a situation where I don’t have to worry about money every time I think about doing anything in my life. She travels, has raised her 3 kids mostly on her own, and is finally building her retirement home for the next stage of her life.
