This post is in a response to the prompt Can’t Stand Me.
Most people find it awkward whenever they have to see a video of themselves, a picture of themselves, or a recording of their own voice. I find all of those uncomfortable to see personally.
The worst to me is hearing my own voice.
When I speak, I think my voice is pretty deep compared to what it probably should be considering my age and things like that. When I hear it on recordings, It changes everything for me. I don’t know why.
When I watch a video, at least I can see myself otherwise normally. I can look in a mirror and see what I look like if I want. A video doesn’t change how you look enough for it to cause a problem.
Simple pictures are the same as the video. Everyone can see their own appearance. It being in a video won’t change how a person sees themselves.
To be perfectly honest, I hate hearing my own actual voice. I don’t know why it bothers me so much, but it does.
I think this is something most people can relate to. I’m not sure how else to word this post other than to say it directly.
