People are social creatures, at least naturally, that need someone to talk to. Everyone has some amount of friends or a person who cares about them.
Some people have many friends that they’ll talk to about everything. They’ll have more people they talk to than anyone else.
Then, there are people like me that have a few close friends they talk to often. They have others they talk to, but they don’t consider them friends.
In my opinion, you can have friends that are around for fun and things like that without being your best friend. I do think they exist because “acquaintances” can be around you to have fun, but a person can have the ability to not sync with them completely like 2 best friends would.
In my case, my best friends have normally been the only person I talk to outside of activities that I’m in at school. I can’t tell why that’s the case, but it is. I’m not the most social person around, but I talk to a few people most of the time.
My first best friends I met when I was 5 years old. One of them I met at kindergarten when it first started and the other I met when my dad moved around 3 hours from my house. They both have their own stories with me. Check Prized Possession for one of those stories.
