Backstory
2 years prior to the story of this specific post, Hunter was stolen from his adoptive mother by his abusive birth father. It is his adoptive brother Luke’s 18th birthday and all he wanted was for Hunter to find his way home again.
Current
In the following weeks following his return, Luke had graduated high school. This was a big moment for everyone, but in the back of his mind was also that he didn’t want to just leave immediately after his brother’s return. This wasn’t just for his brother’s sake, but also for his peace of mind. He decided he would attend Community College in the area because there would be full funding due to his time in foster care and the other aid he qualified for. It would also allow him to work in his off-time without losing the home environment for now.
Hunter is currently taking some classes over the summer to help get him back on track after being gone for 2 years. While he was ahead in certain classes before, it had been a long time since he had been able to be there. The school was looking to retest him before the new year of him starting 8th grade to allow them to properly place him, but his mother wanted to give him the best chance.

After the summer had ended and the school had tested him, they were pleased to discover he was still placed above average in his school. This would put him back where he was before.
While he was doing well academically, their mother was noticing that he was regressing farther in his social skills since the incident. He was having night terrors that involved him yelling in his sleep. He was crying in his sleep all the time and it made them worry more about what he was going through. She decided there needed to be immediate intervention with her and the therapist/psychiatrist team that he had for years now.
It was time for them to find out what had happened while he was gone, even if in small steps. It was breaking her heart and making his progress worse. She wanted to work on these as much as possible before he would start high school in a year.
