Recent Backstory
Hunter had been kidnapped for 2 years by his birth father that was abusive to him and his birth mother. He is now 13 years old, turning 14 soon, and is entering high school a year early due to his success in academics. Even though he’s been placed into high school, he spends a lot of time in a separate class that assists with his social and mental health needs.
Current
Hunter is preparing to start his first day of high school in the coming weeks as Luke starts Community College nearby. Their timings will allow Luke to drive his brother to and from school for the immediate future, but it will be a large change since they won’t be in the same school anymore. Luke won’t be there to help him each day anymore.
When Hunter and his mother arrive at the school to meet the teachers, his mom intends to meet them all to help the process of them understanding her son’s needs as smooth as she can. For the first time in a long time, she is able to meet all the teachers at once.
“It really is nice to meet you all. For those of you who aren’t aware yet, Hunter has had a rough past couple of years and he will need more assistance, especially socially, to have the year go well. He is willing to learn and wants to get along, but we all need to be prepared to help. Please let me know if there are any issues that need addressed at home.”
One of the teachers, who would be his homeroom and special education course teacher was the one that wanted to reassure the woman before they went any farther:
“There’s no need to worry about your son in our classroom. Your older son was great for all of us and we’ll do everything we can to make Hunter as comfortable as we can and we look forward to the first day of classes.”

After the night of meetings passed, Hunter and his mother spent the next several weeks preparing and enjoying the last parts of summer together. They got him a new backpack for school, any supplies they thought he would need, new clothes, and let him pick activities that they could do for the last weeks of summer.
