Sitting on a flight,
States away from home,
A thought came to me:
“What’s it all for?”
Most days,
We’re on routine:
Work, play, eat, and sleep;
Until our time is all used.
Most times,
Nothing happens;
Day after day,
Until everything changes.
Suddenly, it changes.
New love;
New family;
Or even a new home.
That’s we live for isn’t it?
The thrill of the new
After an eternity.
I forget sometimes.
For me,
Love has done it;
Loss and the gain.
Both have happened.
In a way,
I do have a new home;
Good and bad.
All have been true.
When things look bad,
Just remember this,
All you have to do,
Is get through.
I love how you are able to express yourself through poetry. Everyone needs to find some way to get their thoughts out, whether by telling a good friend everything, writing it out in poetry, stories, songs, or journals, or even just having a good cry sometimes.
For me, all of these things have helped me in the past. Getting back into writing helped me get over a breakup last year and writing in general gives me a coping mechanism for college.
